The Special Children’s Christmas Parties are the biggest events of their kind in Australia for special needs children and their Families. They are created with the support and dedication of hundreds of charities, schools, community groups and government organisations throughout the country who select these special children to attend.
Each year, the Special Children’s Christmas Party aims to put a smile on the faces of children who are suffering from serious illness, physical or intellectual impairment, domestic violence, or living in underprivileged circumstances.
At every event, the children are treated to a fun-filled day with celebrity stage shows, fun rides, interactive games, plenty of yummy food, face painting and much more! The highlight of the day is when the children get to meet Santa Clause and enter Santa’s Toy Room, where they are given 2-3 high quality toys to call their own.
We’re so proud to be a part of this year’s event in Perth, held on 23 November at the Perth Convention and Entertainment Centre. Community involvement is so important for us here at Busy Bees Australia, and forms an integral part of our Corporate Responsibility Plan.
Busy Bees Area Manager in Perth, Jay Barr, highlights the importance of this kind of community involvement, saying:
“I think community involvement is about collaborative partnerships, with Families and the broader community, that embrace difference and cultural inclusion as an integral part of everything we do. Children need to be active participants in their world to build on their social competence and gaining agency. Educators at Busy Bees are a supportive network for all Families and children to support inclusion.”
A number of our Busy Bees staff will be volunteering their time on the day to enjoy the event and give every special needs child a very special Christmas.
