Vegemite Loaf Recipe
Our wonderful Chef Tim from Busy Bees on Ashdale created this tasty treat for National Vegemite Day. Try it today!
Ingredients:
- 1kg baker’s flour
- 12g salt
- 12g sugar
- 12g dry yeast
- 40g olive oil
- 630g water 25°C
- Grated cheese (amount as per individual taste)
- Vegemite with a little water (amount as per individual taste)
Method:
- Sift and mix all dry ingredients together, then add water and oil
- Knead until smooth and elastic
- Cover and place in a warm area until the dough has doubled in size
- Knock back dough
- Roll out on bench, then spread with Vegemite and sprinkle with grated cheese
- Roll dough into a long tube and place onto a baking tray
- Spread the top of the dough with Vegemite and cheese
- Put aside to rise again
- Bake in oven (220°C degrees) until golden brown
